2026 World Cup Format Explained
The expanded 48-team tournament uses 12 groups of four. Thirty-two teams advance to knockout play. After you complete the bracket, generate a share image or jump to the sticker checklist to fill gaps for the teams you picked to go deep. For each of the 12 groups, pick 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in order. Last place is assigned automatically. When all groups are complete, the top two from every group plus the best eight third-place teams advance to a knockout bracket from the Round of 32 to the Final.
